Half-life 2 and associated games fail to load.

All games associated with half-life 2 dont seem to load. this includes, CS source, HL2 DM, GMOD. The games i mentioned are all fully installed and 100% ready but when double clicking or clicking launch to start the game a box comes up saying "preparing to launch hlaf-life2 Deathmatch" (same with the list i mentioned) and the box will dissapear and nothing will happen. my pc is powerful enough to play it as my mates isnt as powerful as mine yet his works fine. any ideas? i have been everywhere literally EVERYWHERE and tired EVERYTHING but nothing seems to work. any other suggestions or its happened to you and how you cured it? thanks.

lucky i been waititing a couple of yrs. i have never played it. (apart from at my mates)

You probably have the latest graphic card, sound and DirectX 9.0C (June Update) drivers, so let's go to your firewall. Are you sure the game isn't being blocked by it? Also make sure your Windows Firewall doesn't block it either.
