That's great news. It seems almost finished.

I'm dead excited, although I'm trying to play down my expectations of Half-Life 2.

If you read the whole article, it sounds like HL2 is really going to be released soon. For real this time.

I also appreciate the fact they've decided to focus on finishing the game, rather than worry about promoting it with more videos, etc. Also they're right when they say additional media will further spoil the game . . . again, good call Valve.
 
The annoying thing is that magazine reviews will probably be out before the game so I'll have to resist quite a bit to avoid spoilers from the reviews. I can imagine not even visiting this forum during that time.

x800. dont you want to see HL2 in absolute stunning glory. the 6800 could probably do the same, but im buying the 800 ;)
 
I stick with my 9800 Pro untill HL3 is on the horizon, but yey for HL2, although it sucks that it's released in September (I hope) since I'll be head first in university studies againa and will only be able to play on weekends :(.

PS: Doom 3 great, chainsaw comes in viewing distance of the allmighty crowbar :)

Yes the chainsaw is awesome, the only thing that disappointed me was that you couldn't do any horizontal slashing, oh well

Wouldn't be hard to mod I would think, although, as I've pointed out before, I wanted two firing modes for each weapon and the secondary fire for the chainsaw could be the horizontal slash, bye bye guts.

Yeah 6800 didnt make the grade.. its an okay card but My X800 XT is supposed to be coming soon.. plus my Doom 3 appetizer will get here before the main course meal, Half Life 2.

Get that beast out the door and make it eat doom3...I can see this working better for valve.

They are practically releasing 2 games at once. CS:s &HL2. I can't help but think D3 is screwed.
 
I don't see how the x800xt can be 30% faster then the 6800Ultra in Halflife2, both cards are on a level playing field, both cards have mature direct3d drivers.

Unless Mr Lombardi was stating the x800xt was 30% faster then the 6800nu, which would be...pointless.

Just like Doom 3 was build for the 6800, Half Life w was build for the x800. Once HalfLife 2 comes out, NVidia will come up with new drivers that bridge that difference, and the question is if they can get it to the same level as the ATI cards.

First thing I'm going to do, when I get off that train, is run the opposite way from that camera robot. Then I'm going to pick up a bottle, or a can, or something, and throw it right at a combines head and see what happens. Man it's going to be great. BAM! Hit combine in the head and start running from them/him. HAHAHAH, it's going to be great!

Wow, the 'more vocal' combines sound cool. I like the bit where he bounced a bottle off a table and nearly hit one of them! Especially because it show the AI will be aware of it's environment (the combine knew it had nearly been hit by a bottle).

First thing i'm going to do is test the AI. How? By finding a combine thats facing away from me, lobbing a paper ball at his head (or flicking a rubber band), and immediately turning away and looking innocent. What do you think will happen?
 
i agree with one of the posters who ever you are

run the opposite way of the combine. make them force to places with their stun battons ... be like gordon is pissed. gordon gets off train. gordon on auto kill. auto kill combine.

WHAMM>. gordon's knocked out. dragged to the interogation room and shocked to death..

But... how do you pick things up? You can actually use your hands to other things than to carry guns? :O

"e" button would be used for pretty much everything, atleast that's what Gabe Newell said.
