Half-Life 2 CD-ROM won't install

I ordered the CD-ROM version from a marketplace seller at amazon, and it has just got here. But I have a problem, the darn thing won't install. It runs smooth until it says
"Setup has detected you have DirectX version 9.0b or greater installed on your system and will not attempt to upgrade it."
So I click next and... nothing, no error, no new info or install screen, the next button just depresses and reverts back.
Please someone help me! It IS legit, but I have a feeling its an Asian version, as it says "HL2 Aisa Pacific" (I didn't type it wrong).

Edit: By the way, I have read the FAQ/rules, and have checked steampowered support, and found a fix, sorry for being a n00b.

Do you have the latest DirectX 9.0c installed?

You dont have enough hard drive space. Free up more space and then you can continue on.

And why it doesnt tell you that? I dont know.
