Half life 2 deathmatch memory could not be read error PLEASE help

when i get to the loading screen on half life 2 deathmatch the game crashes and comes up the the memory could not be read message
i got half life 2 and counter strike source working by writing in this stuff in the propeties section of both which fixed pretty much the same problem with half life2 exept the screen just freezes with HL2
If u know how i can fix this the please post the solution

2.53ghz P4
256k modem

yes.... hl2 deathmatch does have problems, i get that to :'( makes me sad becouse it sounded like a fun mod,
