i having dell inspiron 5100 but with 16mb ATI radeon 7500 graphic card. The card is directx 7 capable. Am having 1gb ram and 2.8 ghz processor.

while playing game it slows down many times. I guess it's the graphics card problem. Am using least possible video settings.

Can i get better frame rate by changing any settings

allocate some graphics card memory for internal if its shared. you can set the ratios somewhere i think, google it

I cant allocate any memory. Its independent card. It doesn't comes integrated with mother board

Did you also turn down the resolution? playing at 800x600 as opposed to 1280x960 for example can sometimes make more of a difference in frame rate than turning down all the shaders and special effects and whatnot... if you already did that (or it doesnt work) pay attention to what programs you are have running in the background (like internet explorer, aim, ect and also including programs that just run in the tray in the bottom right of the desktop). Making sure you dont have any unnecessary programs running should free up some RAM which should help offload some work from your graphics cards memory.

ps. drivers are also important for efficient functioning of a graphics card... make sure you have the lastest drivers for that card which you should be able to get here: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

Make sure that you have VSync completely off. Put it in the launch options, in your config, and in the options. Enabling VSync on the Source engine severely hinders your frame rate.
