Some might say I've little better to do than peruse endless forums to catch the latest in the World's 'software delay highlights'.
And they'd be right - but that's beside the point.
Jumping from forum to forum I'm beginning to spot regulars who, perhaps with as little better to do than me, also jump around occasionally posting messages - but mainly reading for the faint glimmer of the infamous words 'release date' and less of the (dare I say the words 'beta leak'.
But throughout all of these forums there exist the following:
1) Absolute hardcore regulars who diss anyone who even so much as hints the impression of knowing less than them. You know who you are. But don't worry - no matter how anal you are perceived to be, you are as vital to the ongoing forums as the rest of us.
2) The actual software developers (who obviously as regarded as kings, or (get away with you) gods who (rather like the good God's themselves) prefer not to give any information out which might be useful to the masses.
3) Gossip-mongers. Need I say more? We can't live without em, we can't live without em.
4) Ha<cough>ckers (scuse me) who (in my opinion) add a little spice to the proceedings by making the juciest gossip just that little bit jucier. Gotta love em really. They've helped destroy proceedings - but hey - admit it - they've really made the forums interesting to read for once.
5) The wanna-be forum admin. The "I'm going to pretend I'm an amin and diss anyone who said the word ****. And ******. Let alone *************" (I'll let you work that last one out).
6) And little folk like me who read a lot but don't actually contribute that often, but who probably make up the bulk of the statistics of the users online. Basically we are the folk who just wanna play/use the new software but truly can't be bothered contributing to the forums until its actually really quiet and nothing much going on. We are the folk who'd rather crack open a new beer  than be any of the previous types. Not that we are deemed superior. Just in a quiet way, we feel more smug.
And if you are wondering if I had a point in all this waffle, you'd be wrong. But at least I've taken up the time of nearly all the types of forum users shown above. And for the members of type (6) - beers are on me for the moment.
