Half Life 2 got me to open my case, how about you?

I'd been a little uneasy before last year about getting into my computer, changing out cards and parts, etc.

Since about late 2003, I opened my case, because Half Life 2 got me into hardware.

Anyone else like that? :d. I'd probably still be a little unknowing at hardware at all were it not for HL2.

I opned my case first time 4 years ago when i was 11 years old.
I have always been upgrading and such since i got my first computer.

Indeed Rakurai. The reason I'm upgrading is mainly because HL2 is coming out. Not the sole reason though, but it made me check what specs I have, and now I realise I have to upgrade to play it decently!

Yup HL2 got me into the hardware stuff, now I know a ton.

I built my first pc and i dont think i ever bothered to put the shell back on cuz i knew I'd be in and out of it. One of the first thing i did when i got this computer was open it up to put an extra harddrive and dvd player in it. One hint though, be careful when taking apart your power supply -_-

I had opened my case for upgrades quite a while before HL2, mostly because things kept going wrong!

HL2 is the first game to get me to upgrade a component that isn't hopelessly outdated yet. Also, it has got me into the overclocking/modding corner of computer upgrades. Now, i'm into things like good cooling systems, before I wouldn't have cared if I could've fried an egg on my computer.

Upgraded my computer for Doom 3 since the E3 2002 stuff (Geforce 4,e.t.c.), then upgraded for HL2 (Radeon 9800,e.t.c) last year, now will upgrade it sometime in 2005.

Unfortunately, most of the previous times I've had to open my computer is to replace a piece of hardware thats died. I've had one video card fried, and I've had like 2 or 3 different hard drives die on me. fortunately, one of them was right after school ended cuz it had all my papers and stuff on it. Heh, after that I started backin up that stuff.

doom 3 got me to open my case and cool down my fx 5200 to overclock it. but hl2 got me to buy a new gfx card
