What do you guys think?
Mid range system with a 9800 pro.. would you say the cpu would be the bottleneck or the gpu?

kthnx

Im thinking its all about the GPU at the moment.......with current hardware we cant even use all the features in HL2.

Only with nextgen cards will we see even more of the amazing stuff scource will do.

the physics etc are cpu dependent

the visuals are gpu dependent so a midrange cpu with nice high gpu would be fine!

Yeah! Thanks man! Just got a 2800+ Barton, so this makes me feel better.

nsxownzme: I run my xp2800 barton @ 2300Mhz ;0)
I could push it higher, but i will need better cooling...

GPU dependant for sure.
I bet either could be the bottleneck if your system specs are too low.
You could prob'ly gain more FPS than you think by updating your CPU...but the card should be first priority.

it looks both gpu and cpu to me... it has its fare share of nice visual effects.. but the physics have got to be very straining on the cpu

I bought the brand new KT600 chipset[motherboard] in hopes it would be better than the 12month old nForce chipset. I was wrong, it doesnt over clock well :(
I have pushed it to 3200+, I have a volcano 11+
