Guys, this was the error that I had previously. It has happened again!!

HL2.exe is what you copy when you have a pirate (not that i have one),other than that i dont know

no no max_fall its the process of half life 2, when you have half life 2 oepn go task manager then go to processors.

No, i don't think so. I've just got myself the ORANGE BOX and installed everything - started playing HL2. I will be playing ep1 and 2 after that. All full version legal copy.

I get the exact same problem:

This happens on HIGHWAY 17, I get past the antlions and jump in the crane, knock the bridge down so that i can cross over to the warehouse. I then picked up my buggie and put it at the warehouse entrance.
I go up to the warehouse and kill 3-4 combine soldiers. I must then flick a switch to open the warehouse door to the side to proceed.

Once it is flicked, i run out and start crashing to the desktop.
At first i was jumping into my buggie to drive out at kill the combine soldiers that were outside the warehouse - but the buggie keeps falling through the ground and then i crash to desktop.

So I decided not to use my buggy, i can kill a few troops, but as soon as one of them throws a grenade, it falls through the ground and i crash to desktop. I'm frustrated cos i cant find help on this anywhere and i cant progress my game.

Anyone heard of this problem?

I ran through the STEAM check cache etc etc - no problems to report - please help.

Err well i've never had hl2 crash but ive had gmod crash, it usally crashes when virtual memory is low but you have 3gb of ram.Check how much harddisk space you got , and try re-installing it.

I've read something on STEAM about Memory and Overclocking - I DO have my machine overclocked - so I'll switch it off and see how it plays.... let y'all know

Nope, All overclocking off - still the EXACT same problem, falling through ground on highway 17 @ warehose with crane

I've gotten that crash while using mods and messing with the game. I think it comes from overloading your computer. Make sure you have the minimum requirements and shut down any processes (CTRL ALT DELETE) that aren't nessisary before running the game.

Everytime I try to open an application on steam,(I've tried CSS: Source and Half-Life: Deathmatch) the game runs until I reach the main screen where I choose to Find Server and Create New Server and Options and all that... and then it turns black and I can still see my mouse pointer. After moving my mouse up and down the left side of the screen and listening to the clicking of the Find Server ect... being highlighted for thrirty seconds an error pops up headed (this is for HLDM only) HALF-LIFE: Deathmatch: hl2.exe: Application Error

I've only found one forum with this error being discussed but I think it's in Portuguese and nobody has replied to his post. Can someone help me out please?!?!?

Oo, a memory erro. Weird, I got one of them while playing Episode Two through again...

Have you got enough memory to run the game?

Do you actually select anything when it crashes?

yea... my memory is in between the minimum and recommended... Im playing DoD (1) and Half-Life: source jusst fine but for some reason i cant run CSS and HLDM.... like i said, the screen turns black at the main screen after loading and the error pops up... if i try to click anything the graphics spazz a little... and you can kinda see whatever you chose.. like the find server box for example;(

Personally I'd reinstall them. It sounds like it's corrupt. Although I don't get why it's doing it to both games. It might be something to do with a firewall, or internet access if it's only happening in multiplayer games... but then surely DoD should crash.

What're your pc stats?

try turning off one of the CPU's
when you have it open, go to your task manager
right click on the HL2.exe and go to set affinity
then uncheck one of the cpu's

this sometimes works for me
