Well no matter when it comes out it will be awsome!! Anyway on to the topic.

What aspects of other games or Level's etc would u add to Half-life 2 from what we have seen so far.
To start off, I would add destructible walls and terain like in Red faction. Bigger muzzle flash on guns like the ones from Staship Troopers, Those flames where teh Shizzle.:dozey:

How dare you! hl2 will be perfert *slap*

On the other hand.. I want more cheetos in hl2?

destructable walls would be cool, and I know its prtty much impossible for todays computers to run but a fully dynamic world and in deformable/destroyable EVERYTHING. Unlimited strategies.

w3rd

deformable everything makes it pretty easy to ruin the story.

Look how careful they had to be in RF and RFII. Bleh.

heh u make ur way to the end of the game by digging...HAHAHA IN UR FACE G-MAN !
but yeah it would be impossible in multi-player : physics engine + destructible walls...at least till all computers have optic fibre wire connections :p

with the source engine, you can make anything destructible, and anything have weight or physics. the only limitation is our hardware.

before you can have a game thats totally destructable (ie you can do anything) we have to have AI such that it will adapt to your moves, basically playing different everytime, to the extent that there isn't even an official story, it just works that way....

...let that sink in....how cool.

hahahahahahaha
Gordon Freeman doesn't have a shadow!!!
Go and check, he doesn't
i want him to have a shadow, and a reflection

ya, a fully destructable area would be nice. im some how reminded of HUGE tunnels, lots of exslosives, and alot of waisted time....red faction you where great....

Oh yeah, RF multiplayer was the COOOLEST. especially in a lan party, dig a big tunnel, remote mine the tunnel :)

most things will be destructable, within reason. expect trees and barrels etc to be but walls like in RF? it would just clog up the level and riun the story. Although it would be funny to dig a big pitfall trap and push someone into it. heh heh.

it would be fun to dig a big hole and see a strider fall in it!!!! sorry, i'm not engrish

feet would be nice, you rarely see feet, and destructable walls would be nice.

How about being able to blow individual parts of the enimes off, like in SOF2, now that'd be a nice addition. And a grapling hook to scale walls and pull down trees on people. You don't see enough grapeling hooks.. do a little scorpion action from MK series "get over here"

now that'd be cool. :)

I want to be able to assemble complex machines from individual components, including electronic circuits and simulated computers to program. I also want characters that recognise and understand what I am saying and act appropriately.

Otherwise I am going to be pissed.

Shooting peoples limbs off with a Glock or a USP is kind of unrealistic. Remember HL2 is going to be next to realism. And Gabe also said that they wouldn't have a system like SOF2 due to unrealism.
And destructable walls would stink. For a few reasons:
[1] If you blew open a wall there would be nothingness, unless they decide to add a floor and textures in between all of the walls. This would cause a disruption in our systems and make the game a slideshow due to un-needed textures and brushes.
[2] It would ruin a concept of the game. You know, say there is a monster you can't get past, and you blow a hole in the wall and you just run by it. You know it would be like blowing a hole in the game.
[3] That is why they invented no-clip.

I want HL2 to be so realistic and fulfilling that I can plug into it with an IV drip and a catheter bag and never have to leave.

I have a catheter!!! that's because i have cancer *shivers*

don't be, i'm not!...i guess.. lol..anywho, CAN i have CANCER-MAN status instead of ant lion?? like teh one in teh x-files

Yeah i miss the feet. Anyone remember Tresspasser? b00bies... :p but anyway it would be cool to see the upper body + feet... would add a bit of realism.

Paper airplanes :)

oh... and the ability to mod guns...like add a scope to your gun..or maybe get some different kinds of ammo like armor peircing shells or explosive shells.

hl2 has blood decals on models which is a plus. and ragdoll which makes for good deaths. i dont think it should be like sof2, but gibbing was a fun part about halflife especially in hl dm.

it wouldn't be hard to implement a system of gibbing into hl2. heres why, things like watermelons in the e3 demo, or boards, they are .mdls.when their health level is depleted there is a file that tells what other .mdls to spawn in its place. these .mdls are ALSO affected by the type of physics entity the original had.

sooo you could do the same thing for a ragdoll entity. after the persons health has been depleted. a new health set appears. once THAT is depleted, it simply spawns .mdl files which are arms, legs, torso, head, or whatever else, then you could see arms and legs flapping in the air with ragdoll, which look even cooler than how sof2 does , when they dismemeber the body part falls lifelessly onto the ground.

anyway its a mod i may work on, but it doesnt seem hard to do at all.

Hmm i was impressed with the goul2 engine but not that impressed.... to include it in hl2.
The reason why we dont see anything like Red Fractions destruble landscape is because the amount of detial to you have to go in.. you practically will have to model a city since you would be albe to roam where ever you want... Red Fraction got away with this since it was underground.. you couldnt get far unless you kept on blasting a whole and you would have run out of ammo sooner of later...

Also I think the Ragdoll affects in hl2 rule.. far better than gibbage!

BABY JEBUS! Another one claims to have found proof that HL2 isn't perfect! omfg..... Listen guys, there will never be a PERFECT game. To define a good game is to compare it with other games that are released at the same time, and games before it. HL2 seems to be extremely good compared to those, but it isn't perfect for christ's sake.

It isn't perfect, but I think it will be seen as a milestone. Look at how many games were made of the unreal or quake engines.

One thing that impressed me more than the material system, were the facial expressions. They weren't stiff and robot like. Very convincing. I reallyt hope the tools they used to create them will be available to the mod community.

Anyway one thing I think would be cool would be body aware ness.

Something more convincing than an arm and gun floating in space, like in theif 3.

body awareness, so like when gordon sees alyx, he looks down and you can see his boner. yea!

posey, that's jsut disgusing....

Anyway about the deformable walls and stuff. It could eaisly be done within reason. You all saw the techdemo video right? They used a displacment maps to do that. You could jsut as easily apply a displacment map to a hand grenade, and thenn it would defore that area accoring to the displancment map. I know there are tons of otherthing you'd have to account for, like the objects on the map, but you could do it with soem time and effort.
