Half-Life 2: Jumping Issue

I've run into a snag on the "Our Benefactors" chapter. After getting the super-charged gravity gun, I suddenly am no longer able to jump. As I can't jump, I can't find a way to get past the area where Dr. Breen talks to you for the second time. There is a small fence blocking the only way I can see to proceed. Is this normal, and am I just missing the real path, or has my game gotten glitched? Rebooting does not help, and saves prior are unaffected.

On a side note, the autosaves between the start of the walker fight and the end to the Citadel tour ride are MIA so I can't redo the segment to check if its a glitch without considerable backtracking I would prefer to avoid if at all possible.

I had the same problem, it pissed me off. I think I just re-installed the game and it fixed it. You are in-fact supposed to be able to jump.

you either pressed jump while riding in the metal box thing, or you pressed jump while you were in the suppression field, where you got the super gravity gun. either way will cause your problem. restart the level.

Yes, make sure you don't press the jump key when you're riding in the pod things. This bug has existed since the game came out.

You reinstalled the game? Haha, what a loser. Just restart the chapter.

restart the level completely. It is a very common problem
