Well, I have a friend who is playing Half-Life 2 on his computer (I'm posting for him as his internet connection is down).
He's in one of the boat levels and is at a part where rockets hit some bridge and collapse it or something of the sort.
A loading screen pops up and sends him back to the main menu. If he loads a game from there, it crashes to desktop.
He has an ATI 9600 XT with the latest ATI drivers (4.11) (official; Omega didn't work at all for him).
