Half-Life 2 Pre-Loading Phase 5

The fifth phase of the Half-Life 2 preload begins to Steam account holders today. This will allow users to download the Counter-Strike: Source maps in encrypted form. No purchase is required to pre-load Half-Life 2, but is required to activate the game. The moment the game is made available, those who have pre-loaded and purchased the game via Steam will be ready to start playing.[br]

An update to the Counter-Strike: Source beta has just been released. Steam will update itself automatically when you restart. Here is a list of the changes:[br]<ul >

Chris_D you know that HL2 takes 6 CDs well im guessing there will be 6 preloads which will be 6 cds? So i think there is only one preload left.

The game is done. Valve is just waiting for approval from Vivendi right now.

Every time there is a preload people go crazy. Ill just pop my CE dvd into my drive and get it all in 5 minutes

I just finished preloading, and it's a small one. It's only around 100mb, and it's added to the counter-strike source shared content file. This shouldn't cause any problems for steam.

Will the encryption hold? Or will the "free" CS:S game be all aver the internet by tomorrow afternoon?

Wtf, the cs:source update says it has 34 freakin minutes left... it shouldnt be that much should it? I usually DL really fast from steam but this is ridiculous. Is the preload slowing it down or something?

1 CD = 700Mb
6 CDs = 4.2Gb (4,200Mb)

probably!! We're at 3.0Gb -ish at Phase 4..... hmmmm but then again this phase (5th) is only around 100Mb :O

I was hoping this would be the last "phase"..... PHASE OUT THE PHASE!!

how do i know if i've gotten the update? source says im up to date, but i didnt notice it preload... then again i leave my computer on all day.

hmm... says its up to date, even rebooted.
i have 7 .gcf files in my 'C:\Valve\Steam\SteamApps' which equal to 3.4gb i think thats right. guess i missed it updating

Did anyone else notice at http://www.half-life2.com/news.php contains news about preload 1,2,3 and 5, but not 4?

Half-Life Fallout reports that they’ve received word from Valve’s Gabe Newell on a final confirmation of Half-Life 2’s steam and retail packages. They have also revealed that the full version of Counter-Strike: Source will be available to Steam purchasers next week.
