Half Life 2 Preload Contains HL1: Source Files

I was looking in the Sounds Preload in *** scape and found a Folder called HL1 and also some HL1 music, all encrypted so unplayable, but there

In the l*** there were HL1 sounds, they are still using quite a lot of sounds from the first game in half life 2.

alyx, barney, distance_test, eli, gman, hl1hazaudio, musc_test, test and a few others

I'm sure I heard that when you buy Half-life 2, not only do you get CS:S but HL:S thrown in for free. Anyway, if thats the case then wouldn't these games also need to preload too? Altho on a preload, wouldn't we get a choice of downloading them seperately? Hmm..we'll see.

Either way, its not surprising that some of the original sounds are being used again. It'd be quite silly to totally ignore all that has gone on before the game, especially such distinct sounds.

I can tell you that the HEV sounds are the same as in HL1. Well, I'm pretty sure they are anyways. I forget which movie I was watching, but one of them had the HEV suit say something or other, and it sounded exactly as in HL1.

It wouldn't suprise me. It's not like Freeman switched HEV suits along the way. I don't think so at least........

the HEV suit is very different, i cant find pictures online but i have a hl1 and an hl2 poster side by side, much different.

but I dont think it has all the audio, Valve said 50 enemies, and there only Audio for about 15-20

No, but you might have spoiled something if you had persisted. There was a pic of the contents of the materials GCF file deleted off here a few days back because it contained things that could spoil the game for people (like the names of several enemies and weapons). The sound files could contain the same thing.

well assuming my memory serves me ok...the GMan says to you in the train something like

" you will notice i have relieved you of your wepons, but i have left you with your Hazard Suit.. <<gman swallows>> i think you've earned it."

so assuming Hl2 starts with ya getting of a train....maybe the same one??? you should technically have the hazard suit still on??? or have u been relieved of that 2? as u walked through that green orb thingy majig? what ya rekon?? or did ya change trains to as u go through the portal when he says

"time to choose"???

No Hazard Suit. Apparently the G-Man's plans changed, as Gordon now seems to be without the suit at the start of the game (the train station), and the suit (as seen from the artwork) seems to be different.
