i recently brought counter strike:source and Half life 2. i popped onto half life 2 single player and as i get to the part were i am going up the stairs and go down the corridor a guy whispers to you, to "come in here quick" i think. for the tenth time my pc reboots, any idea

(yes i do have steam im not like that other ass who tried to pirate it)

add me at turmoil45 for proof.

EDIT: i also realised i have unupdated display driver would that be the cause?

do you mean what video card have i got? sorry im not too good with pc's haha i just now how to game and own :P

thanks for the quick reply

Your video card, your RAM and your processor. Start off by just updating the driver and trying, if you still get the crash report back here.

AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2600+, MMX, 3DNow, ~1.9GHz
1427mb RAM
VIA/S3G KM400/KN400 video card

i am using the hardware update wizard does it take long? also im using stuff that came with my PC i didn't build it myself its like a family computer only thing i had done to it was increase my ram from 256 to 1.4gig

Try finding the official site for your graphics card and download drivers from there, the hardware update driver usually fails. And the rest of your computer will probably run HL2.

i just updated my drivers to the latest as far as im concerned and i get this still i had it from the start

i still get a reboot at that part any help otherwise ive just wasted my money that i been saving :D

Well, it would seem your graphics card would be a sub-DX7 one, which would mean it was manufactured before 2002.

That's kind of old.

if it was sub dx7 then it wouldnt even let him play or open the game.

I am also having problems playing HL2 on my comp.

I have tried updating my driver. But still getting crashes and sometimes, physical memory dumps.

Specs:

DELL Dimension DIMC521
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual
Core Processor 3800+
2.00 GHz, 1.00GB RAM

Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks.
