Half Life 2 problem

I don't know if this is the right place for this but I figured I might as well. I'm trying to install a mod into my Half Life 2 game to replace alyx with the combine assassin model someone made. The only problem is the way to install it. Everywhere I've looked, people say to put the folders in the Models folder and the Materials folder...I didn't have either of those files when I opened the directory. What's going on? The game runs fine so the models are obviously there but I don't know where they are. What am I supposed to do?

if you are looking for the original files, they are not in the folders but in de GCF files (some kind of containers like zip, rar, ...). Just put the custom models in the right folders and enjoy the game

The folders aren't already there because the game's files are stored elsewhere. You tell the game to use custom content simply by putting the content in the game folder where it should be. So you do have to make the folder structure yourself.
