I just bought Half Life 2. I am new to pc gaming, but not to owning a pc (I've been using computers since a 486 was fast).
I pop in my HL2 disk, and it pops up all nice like with Gordon Freeman hanging out looking all badass, and I click Install.
It installs Steam, then asks me If I want to install CS and HL2, which I certainly do. I go through the song and dance and then get to the end.
It says, click next to begin installation, so I click next... nothing happens.
Odd I says to myself, so I open the cd itself, and find the HL2 setup file, and proceed to go through the song and dance again, but I am met with similar results.
In short, HL2 will not install from my disks, which are immaculate, and very shiny. Steam however has no problem downloading HL2 and CS for me, all 9 million gigs worth of installation files that are sitting in my disks waiting to be used.
Am I doing something wrong, have I messed up in some way? Why does this wonderful game refuse to install from the disks which I have? I have tried to find answers on the Steam forums, but posting topics is disabled for some reason. I have been trying for a few hours to make this work, and I am growing furious. I just want to kill robots, and aliens, not deal with this whale sized headache. :flame::flame::flame::flame::flame::flame::flame::flame::flame::flame::flame::flame::flame:
