Half Life 2 Save Crash

I recently bought Half Life 2 and I love the same (startups perfect through steam etc), but whenever the damn thing autosaves or i manual save it crashs saying it could not connect to the steam server to get game files.

What I notice is that STEAM eventually just crashs for some queer reason in the background shortly after I start the game.

Any idea how to fix this? Counstrike Source works perfect but the actual single play half life 2 is starting to drive me nuts. Yes it updated to the max, steam has it set to always keep uptodate.

Yes, i have the SAME problem and guess many others do too. Whenever i save or the game goes to LOADING area, it crashes. Error message is NODE GRAPH OUT OF DATE. REBUILDING.... It is frustrating but the game is fantastic.
