So it looks like a Half-Life 2 subscription isn't quite what it seems. You don't get just Half-Life 2, in fact you don't subscribe to Half-Life 2. You subscribe to Steam. That means you get Half-Life, Counter-Strike, Day of Defeat, etc. It may not be a bad deal after all as long as some content keeps on coming (CS 2, Team Fortress 2, etc). We shall see.
Those who have purchased one of our existing games at retail will not be charged to play those games online with Steam.
When new games come out, gamers will have a choice:
-- Buy it at retail, play that game for free online over Steam.
-- Buy it on Steam, play it online for free over Steam.
-- Skip the purchase and, instead, sign up for a monthly Steam subscription -- which will give them access to all our games for whatever period of time they choose to subscribe.
