half life 2 support nvidia sm 3.0 !

Yeah think it's been posted.

I doubt very much that the game will support SM3.0 upon release. It's likely that they'll add it as a Steam update at a later date.

 Why would you be sorry? Valve chose ATi cards as a preferred choice for a reason now... because they run Half Life 2 better than Nvidia.

It says supports, that doesn't mean it'll be in at release. Plus SM3.0 has no major advantages over 2.0/b unless the developer wants it to - and since they're one of ATi's 'Get with the game' games... well, you work it out.

It could be that since Valve will release the game in late September and since 3-4 months later ATI will support SM 3.0, the companies have agreed to use it in H-L 2. If that is the case nVidia will get a good 6 month window of being the only company with boards available that fully support Half-Life 2.
Since in the end ATI card holders will end up getting it anyway I don't see it as being much of a big deal. Sure 3-4 months is a long time, but its not something that will be absolutely exclusive to Nvidia cards. Besides, since Nvidia cards are likely to not perform as well as ATI cards in HL2 then it just makes everything kind of even.

Not really sure why PS3.0 in HL2 has any effect here.

If we use Farcry as an example with it's yet-to-be-released 1.2 patch, ATI won before and after new Shader versions were implemented. Link
ATI leads a lot more in HL2 then they ever did in FarCry.

Although ATI's 3Dc will make a bigger impact than SM3.0 for this game. :O

It doesn't add that much to the game anyway. Honestly.

Wow, Asus, seeing that you have an Nvidia card, I have to give you props for not being persuaded by brand names and and fanboyism and actually looking at the technology.

Hehe
Well you see all this debating between Nvidia and ATI is just to pick the optimal choice or our preference. They are all good. ;)
It isn't like the FX series where we warn everyone with big red flags, "Do Not Buy!".

Basicly it came down to this, it was instock when I was buying my card. Pretty simple if you ask me.
