Hi all I have begun yet another HL2 fan fiction story and have just finished a few paragraphs and wanted your opinions on if this seems to work out as far as POV and everyhting goes. I leaned towards telling "the whole story" from start to fisnish. I am not that far but would like your opinions.Thank you!
P.S. if you like it I will continue to post my progress.

Chapter 1-A new Assignment (unfinished)
Everything went dark. The screams faded into a hollow whisper. The thumping gunshots droned off into the backdrop. The world went dark, and a tall shadowy figure approached nimbly.
“Hello Gordon Freeman, it is so nice to see you again. Well, you scared the world with your disastrous time in Black Mesa. Yet here you are prepared to clean up what you started……or are you.”
He was gone; the world had changed yet again. Everything, the sky, the ground, everything just went white. It seemed that everything was being torn by the very thresholds of reality. His vision was restored. The train rumbled into the station.
Gordon Freeman awoke on a ragged train passing through a vast scrap land. He stood unaware of anything wearing a blue jumpsuit and large black glasses. He knew he was a scientist from the Black Mesa research facility, but where was he now. Had he died? He was here on a train away from the certain death and chaos he left behind him. Gordon Freeman knew he was the one responsible for unleashing the horrible creatures from the planet known as Xen. He knew them simply as headcrabs. They were crab like monsters that sucked the life out of its host taking complete control. He had lost so many friends to those beasts. This species had come to be called the Vortigaunts and they had advanced after Black Mesa was “destroyed” by a nuclear weapon attack from the United States Air Force. That guy in the darkness was the G-man. Gordon remembered him from Black Mesa too. He had offered to keep him alive if he served him or stay there and wait for his death. He accepted the offer and was put into a slow-time warp. Finally he had awoken in the near future on this train. He was on his next assignment from the G-man. However Gordon had no idea what this assignment was. The train came to a shuttering halt.
He took a step towards the door unaware of the shock that lied ahead of him. Freeman walked outside when he was blinded by a hovering craft with a flash. After regaining vision he stepped off the train block and entered the main station. The world had certainly changed and he was just in a train station. The ground was covered in dirt and broken glass. Above them a holographic projection showed a familiar face giving a speech. Gordon paused and realized who he was looking at. It was Dr. Breen, his boss from Black Mesa. He smiled and began to speak with eyes fixed on the Gordon and the two passengers coming off the train with him.
“Welcome new citizens to City 17! Here you will start a new life in a safe environment. Some of you are here by choice while others of you not by choice. Enjoy your stay in City 17,” boomed Breen’s voice in the vast entrance.
As he continued Gordon began to notice more and more differences in this new place. Figures dressed in all black wearing gas masks were everywhere. They looked fearsome and ruthless as they shook their stun batons at anybody who passed them. One man was loading boxes onto a cart when one of the shadowy figures approached him and stabbed him in the back with the baton. The man crumpled to the ground in pain as the black soldier looked down on him. They were clearly some sort of police or soldiers. Gordon knew from the second he saw them that they would be trouble. A large steel gate opened ahead signaling his safe passage. Above a sign read, City 17. More and more people came into view wearing those same blue jumpsuits. Each one of them seemed up tight and nervous down to their very cores. He overheard two of them calling the black soldiers “the Combine”. They were called the Combine, yet Freeman felt like he needed to know more about them. He passed through yet another checkpoint when the gate slammed closed and a door was opened forcefully to his right. A Combine guard grabbed him and pulled him through a musky hallway. The guard knocked on a door when another soldier opened the door. Gordon was shoved into the room and the guards exchanged a few words. The door closed leaving Gordon, a Combine guard, and a blood stained chair.

It's quite good description, but apart from what "the figure" says, the story reminds me of something I have experienced quite recently...

Well my goal was to really depict the story from start to finish. However as it continues I will tie up loose ends in the story.

I also plan on adding another POV....Alyx. That way there will be some more variety. Like when Alyx breaks into another sector I'll follow her before going back to Gordon.

Ok I have finished the end of chapter one!

Chapter 1: The New Assignment
“Stay over there!” commanded the sinister looking guard. Instinctively Gordon listened and stood by the blood soaked chair. Two cameras looked down to him flashing lights and focusing. The guard entered a command as fast as he could, and the cameras shutdown and retreated into the ceiling. The guard approached Gordon with a fierce look through the gas mask shielding the Combine’s face. Yet, he felt nothing, and the guard just began to undo his helmet. He removed the gas mask revealing the face of a long lost friend. It was Barney Calhoun, the security guard from Black Mesa. Barney had helped Gordon fight the Vortigaunts and other monsters from Xen during the entire incident. Barney smiled at Gordon.
“About that beer I owed you”, he said grinning at his friend.
Gordon just flicked a smile back and listened to what Barney had to say.
“I’m working undercover for the Combine and I don’t have much time. I need to get you to Dr. Kleiner’s office,” he said as he began to type on the console once more.
The face of another friend appeared on screen. It was Dr. Kleiner, one of Freeman’s overseers during his short time at Black Mesa.
“Barney I’m very busy this had better be good,” rang his familiar voice.
“Chill doc, there’s someone here to see you,” replied Barney.
“Gordon Freeman!” said Dr. Kleiner in astonishment.
“Yeah, and he needs to get to your lab ASAP,” came Barney’s snappy reply.
“But of course. I do believe Alyx is around there somewhere. Have Gordon meet up with her,” ordered the doctor as he pondered Gordon’s options.
Before Barney could get a word out the door began to knock loudly. Barney ran to the door on the far side of the room and entered his keycard. It opened giving Gordon his first chance out. A window became his escape route, and he jumped out with ease.
Once on the ground Gordon smelt the pollution and rot in the air. Newspapers and dirt kicked around him in a swift breeze. The sounds of Combine voices overpowered the breeze almost immediately. They were coming across the alleyway. He crept behind a dumpster and waited for them to pass. As he approached the wall an engine revved up to his right. Just as he turned his head away a silver tank like vehicle blasted through the tight quarters blowing debris across the way. Once again Gordon checked all around in case of guards. It was clear. He ran out to the sidewalk and began to walk casually as if he lived nearby. He heard a crackle behind him and stopped walking. Behind him a Combine soldier held a stun baton to his face.
“Get back to your assigned quarters or I will place you under arrest,” yelled the strange robotic voice of the soldier.
Gordon became aware of how strict this new “City 17” was, so he continued with hurry. He slipped into the first apartment he could find. When he came up the stairs a police unit was knocking down a door with their pistols raised. Once the ruthless troop barged in Gordon made his way into the neighboring room. He found two young citizens staring outside at the multiple police units and vehicles approaching their home. He had to move. Gordon ran into the hallway and up another flight of stairs. A man called out and told him to head for the roof. He ran for the apartment room and followed the man inside. He was taken to a staircase when the door began to be bashed open. Without turning back Freeman made a sprint upwards where he found more stairs. Soldiers were closing in fast. He ran down some steps when the surrounding doors burst open with police and weapons. Gordon ran towards the stairs. He heard the cracking of wood and then it all went black.

Chapter two is in the works and I plan to make some big changes here! Tell me what you think!
-AlYx-

I know I just wanted to go along and then change as it goes. My next chapter gets much deeper into the story and begins to fill in the blanks left from the early part of the game.
