Half-Life 2 Theatrical Fan-made Trailer

Hello all, this is a trailer I made to tease the prospect of how I'd approach a Half-Life movie. This is actually the second one I've done, and by far my favorite. I take credit for none of the footage, simply the editing.

I like the music choice - works great for the darker mood.

I think if you used more footage from HL2 it might be better (seemed like there was a lot of footage from EP1 & 2, which isn't bad, but I guess I was expecting more from HL2). Not a bad start, imo.
Definitely one of the better trailers I've seen around here.

I am planning on beginning working on another one very soon so I'll be taking everything said in this thread into account. I'm trying to locate music from the actual games to use for the next one and I'm hoping to get my MacBook dual-booted so that I can record my own footage in-game, but I doubt I will be able to do that due to time constraints and lack of money to get Windows.

If you want to help out for the next one you guys can put up some links to good videos you'd like to see snippets of appear in the next trailer. Again thanks for the good critique and I'll keep that in mind.

Yes, brilliant music choice. It would have helped the trailer if there was more of a buildup of the chaos shown; it would seem very strange to somebody who is not familiar with the Half-Life world, but only a minor inconvenience. Keep up the good work

Im planning on doing another shorter one as a mock advertisement set to actual music from Half-Life 2 in HD. I'll be putting it up on youtube sooner or later.

Overall I think the second is better, but I still liked the music from the first one better (did better for setting the darker mood, imo). I like the Gordon cameo.

An overall improvement though. Keep it up!

Yeah finding suitable footage of Gordon in-game was a BITCH :hmph:

Either way the next one is looking to be about 30-45 seconds in length, set to the song Last Legs from the Orange Box soundtrack.

I found some great HD footage from Half-Life 2 and the Episodes, so I expect this one to be the best yet despite its shorter length. If I can find other music and more footage I will make it longer, but as of yet thats unlikely. Keep an eye out for it though!

The first one was far better. I liked that they were both very toned down though, pretty low-key, which is great. Usually fan-made trailers need to have lots of explosions, extremely fast music and cuts upon cuts upon cuts. Still, first one was way better. No cameos of Gordon, and no fakefactory skins for the love of god. Eww. Also that shot of the boat thingy was just weird and wrong.

Actually the second one I posted was done before the first one posted. So the one set to The Smashing Pumpkins is trailer #2. That being said, I'll take what you said as a compliment for my improvement

#3 is on the way guys. Again expect it to be much shorter but of higher quality. There will be a Freeman cameo, but its even shorter than the first one did so don't worry.
