half-life 2 trouble shooting!!

I've got a problem, and its quite annoying.. here's what's going on: I've installed half-life 2, that wasn't a problem, but now when I want to play it and I start the game I first get the men with the valve, and when it should go to the startscreen it returns to windows.. every time again.. any suggestions to help?

Do you have the latest Direct X? Are your drivers up to date? I'm not sure if any of these will help but they are worth a look at if you haven't done so already.

Yes, I've downloaded DirectX 9c so.. thats the newest aint it..

ow yeah another thing, it doesn't give an error at all.. so i have no clue why it shuts down..

btw, I have played the demo version a couple of times, and that didn't give any problems.

Check steampowered.com for support and methods of validating (important word) your files, to check for corruptions.

Also, try telling us your system spec. It can often help.

my systemspecs shouldn't be the problem, it played doom 3 fluently so..
awell:
Athlon XP 2000+
Radeon 9700
+- 800mb RAM.
