Up until the last page of the guide when it starts getting into console commands and executable arguments, the guide says essentially nothing of use for those of us who already know what all of the in-game options do and how to upgrade our drivers, tweak Windows, etc.

This is not a criticism, I am simply saying that this guide is more for the "novice" user (or the user who does not regularly check all of the things listed). If you have exhausted all of your options already while trying to improve performance, you will probably not get very much from this guide.

Does anybody know if by starting a "New Game" in HL2, you lose access to your saved games in the current one being played.
Or a better question, can you switch back and forth from one to the next..
(This more relates to another family member wanting to play their own game independent of mine)

Make sure you proper save your progress for the first user.

When you start another game it will autsave over the first autosave it finds.

And then save properly for the second person and vice versa.

The console commands are documented in-game, the author has simply copy and pasted this info into his guide without explaining the performance implications.

BTW the Far Cry guide is a joke as well. It doesn't even tell you how to enable triple buffering.
