basically i have a shitty computer, can anyone tell me all the useful commands to put less stress on my video card or such.
Well, off the top of my head [sorry, I'm not much of a console buff]:
Defragment your harddrives thoroughly.
Close any unused programs/processes before you play Hl2. If possible, restart and don't open up unused programs [MSN,ICQ, other things that will start on a startup].
Put all the graphic settings on low, and turn any special features off.
Put 'develepor 1' in the console. I'm not sure what this does.
Put 'fps_max 60' or whatever in the console.

add "-heapsize (half of your ram)000" in launch options. ex. "-heapsize 256000" if u have 512 mb. also, dl omega drivers, they incrase ur fps somewhat.
