Half life 2 - water hazard level

Hi

Im on the water hazard bit in half life 2 after beating the helicopter. Ive tried hitting the ramp eg the trees to get over the walll but I wasnt going fast enough. Also tried using the other gate which u turn and when u let go it goes down.

On the water buggy is there a boost button on it , It says on websites that shift works but ive had no luck with that either.

Can someone tell me how to get either of the problems done.

The gate that you've been turning, keep going til it locks up there, then go round and up the ramp, kill the metrocops then go to the other side of the building and round, there is a control to open the gate so you can use the ramp to jump the dam.

The water buggy has no boost button on it the car later on does.

Yah. Climb up to the farmhouse, and get on top of the dam - run across the damn, and turn the wheel to open the dam so you can jump the dam.
