Ok I have a Dell xps Dimension Gen 3 system with up-to-date evrything. I do not have internet and was forced to jack my folks' cable from this computer to verify the game. My problem is this: I tell the game to run and the drive will start to make noise like it is reading the cd, then nothing happens. Or a message apears that says something to the extent of Steam Error: This game is not available at this time, please try later. Or words to that extent. I can get the game to run 30% of the time after I deleted this stuff called sonic on my computer. I am open for any sugestions. Thanx.

Are you having it save your username and password? If not, then the game requires an Internet connection. Otherwise, if you have it save your username and password, you should be able to play it offline.

Aside from that, I have no clue what might be up.

Geometric - I totally sympathise with all those like you without a net connection, online authentication is the biggest joke of gaming history IMO.

Firstly, steam is taking AGES to verify accounts, mine took nearly 2 days. To play offline, your key needs to be verified. But in the meantime steam allows you to play the game ONline only. Once your serial number is properly verified you will get a message through steam saying it is all done, you have fully registered blah blah blah. Only then can you play in offline mode. Only... you need a net connection AGAIN to get this message and to set steam up to play offline. Chances are your key has now been processed but without a net connection you won't know or be able to play offline.

Sorry dood, you're gonna have to use your folks cable again... but think yourself lucky you didn't have to haul your machine to a friends house only to find you have to do it all again to be able to play in offline mode. :rolling:

g'luck

Nah, dood, I got it running in offline mode fine, I can get the game to play maby 30% of the time. But sometimes it just wont work when I click on it. Sometimes I hear the drive reading the cd, then it stops and I am left on the windows screen with nothing. Sometimes I get that error message, usualy if I exit the game, then try to go back in withought rebooting my comp. I think it has something to do with the fact I have anew cd/dvd drive.
