Half-life 2

Hi

I'm trying to install half-life 2 I've installed steam and created a account. Then it i installed the game. And after that i try to activated it by using the cd key. Then it says please run half-life 2 installation when i've already got it installed. What am i doing wrong

When you install the game, the installation procedure should ask you for your cd key... (if I recall correctly)

It didn't ask me until i tried to activate it.

What version of the game do you have? Did you buy it in retail or did you download it via Steam?

The Retail version.

You should uninstall and take pictures of each step in the installation process (done by pressing Print Screen (Prt Scr) on your keyboard, then open MS paint and paste it in there, then remove the excess imagery around the installation window.). Then, upload the images to www.imageshack.us and copy the url it gives you into your reply. Repeat this for every image.
