I have just finished HL2 and I was begging for more HL. The cliffhanger ending made me want to smack valve with the crowbar as they left so many questions unanswered. This brought me to be thinking about the eventual HL3. I was trying to figure out how long it's going to take and if they're going to build a new engine or if they are going to use source again. Does anyone know if valve has started HL3's development or if they even have the story set up for it yet? I tried to research the steampowered forums but the search option is failing right now. Has anyone researched this? If you have please respond.

Half-Life 3 will be developed with the Source Engine (with possible minor updates and tweaks). I guess we'll be seeing HL3 in about 2 years.

I didn't like the ending that much either. I feel as if Half-Life 2 ended with a climax, and that there was no denouement what so ever. Good think that they're making Half-Life 3, or else that would've been the worst way to end a story!

yeah... I hope that in HL3... all those unanswered question will now be answered.

Then it will make more unanswered quesions like:

-Where are my feet?
-I want peanus, where can I get peanuts!
-hmm, that headcrab seems to be wearing Kliener's glasses. Why is that?

when will it end but?
at half life 15,937??

eventually the game will get stale, even for die hards like me.
i cant wait 3 years between episodes for like 24hours of gaming.
thats almost as bad as the star wars movies, 5 fricken years for 2 hours of sci fi bliss!
screw you lucasfilm.

..

oh yeh and valve too.
p.s get back to me

Most questions can and have answers worked out that seem solid. (No not G-man is Gordon's father, that's bull ****) The only questions realy left are what will happen.(G-man dos't control time. Think, if anyone controled time they wouldn't need to recrute rouge scientists)

I don't think it should ever end. It'll be like that Playstation commercial where they are futuristically advertising "Playstation 8" or something like that where it's kinda Matrix-like. I can't wait for HL3, but it is worth "24 hours of gameplay" because it's really much more than that. You can play it and other spin-offs online. You could play new levels. You can play it several times on different difficulty settings, etc... there are many things you could do. Then again, I have never actually beat HL1. I had played it since around when it first came out, but my step-dad actually owned it and he is not around any more. I finally got it this last summer from a cousin that didn't want it. I played for a ways, but due to reformatting, I no longer have my saves. My dad now has it and I am at his house right now to get it back. I really do need to play it so I will understand HL2 better.

If u dont understand HL2 then let me simply explain it 4 u....ITS FREAKIN' WEIRD!!! And pretty freakin' awsome.....

The denouement is always at the end. Half-Life 2 isn't the end it's the center of the story that's why it ended in a climax. You'll find the denouement to the Half-Life story in Half-Life 3.
