Half-Life Blue Shift

Hey anyone have any ideas how to get Blue-Shift to work in Windows XP?

Ive tried everything that the help site says from changing the desktop settings to running it in the different modes. With and without the high definition pack.

I even borrowed an old copy of blueshift from a friend and it still wouldnt play ball.

All the time it just comes up with a pop-up window saying 'HL launcher' failed to execute or something like that.

It wouldnt annoy me so much except on the CD itself it has printed on it

and on the back of the box it lists XP as a minimum spec. Why will it run Half-Life, Opposing Force, counter-Strike with nooo problems but always flips out on Blue SHift

i ran it fine. are you trying to run it on steam? i suppose ur not because its not actually ON steam. try getting all the latest HL patches...?

yeh ive tried it before and after i reformatted my hard drive (for different reason).

I dont have steam, just the regular CD version.

I patched it up to the patch i found on gamespot. 1.0.0.1 i think it was and still no joy.

It runs on anything after Win 98. Believe me, if you've got Win 98 then it shoudln't be a problem. I ran it on my old Win 98 computer and my friend still hasn't got X adn he plays it.

I do remember VALVe saying they were to add Gunman Chronicles and Blue Shift to Steam in the near future

1.0.0.1 is like the second release....

I think you might wanna try patching that up to at least 1.1.0.0 then it will work.

They said blue shift wasnt added at the present time to Steam because of minor changes made to the game engine

Blue shift doesn't work for me either. I think something got ****ed in the installation (but I installed it over and over like 5 times), then when I try to go play it, it goes into a black screen, then fiddles around then goes back to my desktop. And it sometimes it will work, and sometimes it doesn't run.

but its fine, I've heard its not that great anyways.

blueshift works for me....make sure u have patches i guess
