So... what's it for? What kind of info do you get exactly? The archives are for list members only..
 
Lets see Valve employes post there... (The archives arent the cleanest but you can find some good information in there.)

Eg.

Eric, I think there a lot of us that would be VERY interested in having our
maps available via steam. The Verc used to have a map exchange board, but
they shut it down and now there really isn't any good places to post maps -
whether it be in development, or finished products. Being able to make our
maps available via Steam would make many mappers very very happy indeed!

It's an email-based forum. Sometimes, you get responses from Valve employees. Not very often though.
 
Same thing as the emails we send to post on these forums though.
