hi guys,
im getting kind of tired right now..
i tried just about everything but with the same result: the game will freeze on the loading screen BEFORE the menu..or, if im lucky, and i get to menu it will stuck up when the loading bar of a new game is slightly above 50%

i've read it could be due to uncomplete downloading of game's files from steam but

1) i have the game on dvd and i firstly installed it from there but it wasnt working either

2) thinking something was wrong with my dvd installation, i deleted the game files through steam's program and redownloaded the whole thing but nothing changed

i DID check my files through those links provided by steam's support team, i DID check steam's monitor isnt downloading anymore files plus it says 100% installed, and ready for offline play, i DID try to delete or rename the .blob file but got no improvements after updating, i DID update all my video card drivers..(actually tried several of them)

what is there left to try? put the dvd on my walkman cd player and see if it works that way?!?! gosh..

my specs are
Athlon XP 3000+
nVidia FX 5700LE
512Mb DDR 400Mhz
DirectX 9.0c

my only doubt is on HL2 properties, under disk usage i read 838Mb. shouldnt it be more than 4Gbs? actually my steam folder is more than 7Gbs! help!!

838 is correct for HL2's main file, the rest of the GBs are the other files it needs.

Just looking at you system specs... there is something in the official help about AMD cpus and VIA chipsets.

Do you have a VIA chipset? Try the "More Information" bit at the bottom of the page if you aren't sure.

Maybe it's a motherboard driver issue.

ok...i have no word to say this...but...yeah i got it to work
how?

easy..i downloaded a NO CD HIJACK PATCH who did the job

i mean..is this possible? how do they expect ppl to go out and buy their games when the only way to make it work is illegal?
i dont regret for the money i've spent but i wish i could had got it to work in a less stressful way. i EXPECTED that, at least.

thanks valve for creating the best game ever

THANKS DUDE WHO MADE THE CRACK for allowing me to play it
