Hold on to your hats folks! I beat Half life 2 last night, yeah, it only took me a day and half to beat, but i noticed that it raised for questions than it answered. Maybe this Half-Life film will help fill in some gaps, i just recieved word of it, and heres the official link

http://movies.hsx.com/servlet/SecurityDetail?symbol=HALFL

Keep in mind it is still in developement, but theres not way of it being abandoned!
What do you think? if anyone is interested, i also have the Official link for a big-budget upcoming film called...."Doom" hehe, 2005 is going to be good

Im really confused... what is that website & that half-life movie? Is that just an idea that has a patent on it....??

That site is HollyWood Stock Exchange, you can view upcoming movies, even if they are still being written! this is how i knew saw was coming out and its plot at about christmas of last year! the movie is not just a plot with a patent, it is an ACTUAL film that is in production, probabally going to be released in 2k5

aw man.. i really hope they dont f' this up. I heard Valve kept saying no to movies beacuse everyone was always like "and then Gordon falls in love..." and Valve would walk out at that point lol

If they make this into a movie it had better be badass

there is not doubt, if this movie makes it to the theatres, its going to be HUGE. Ive heard romurs that speculating cast members included Matt Damon, Tom Hanks, but those are just rumors

Gordon's parts gonna be easy to write.

Valve needs to stay out of the movie biz, I think...unless it could somehow turn out to be an actual, watchable movie, and not just video-game inspired dreck, made only to make more money from the people who bought the games....

Gabe needs to remember why he wanted to make videogames-- for fun and not to just make a gazillion jillion dollars. He's gonna get too big for himself and release some crap movie designed for the purpose of 'widening the franchise'-- i.e. just to make money, and everyone with sense will turn on Valve...he should be careful.

The whole time I've been playing, I kept thinking to myself, "This would make an excellent movie." The first one, not so much, since it's mostly Gordon running around killing things on his own, but this one had character interaction, a bit of a love interest, and an "underground resistance saves the world" basic plotline... With the right actors, this could be *gold*.

My picks...

Gordon Freeman - Edward Norton. Why? Put the glasses on him, and replace the smirk with something a bit more serious, and you've got Gordon Freeman: http://www.imdb.com/gallery/ss/0307901/Ss/0307901/FF-T4.jpg

Eli Vance - If Eli had been white, I'd of cast Donald Sutherland, but since he's not... Morgan Freeman. For more then just the ironic name. He's got the right look, and he's a fine actor.

Alyx Vance - I'm still trying to think of someone, and I'm torn cause I can't decide if she's half asian or half hispanic... It's hard to tell in the game... I'm leaning more towards the asian side, personally, but I can't think of any acresses off the top of my head.

Dr. Kleiner - Tom Hanks. No explanation needed.

Barney - Gordon and Alyx aside, this is gonna be the most important character to get the right actor for... Personally, I'd want to see Matt Damon and Ewan McGreggor screen test.

Dr. Breen - Helmut Bakaitis (The Architect from the Matrix movies). He's got the look, and the voice.

The G-Man - Either William B. Davis (The Smoking Man from X-Files), Matt Frewer (the guy from Psi Factor and Taken), or someone no one's ever seen before... The voice is key here.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Got your own cast ideas? POST! :D

By far the best actor to play the G-man would be Chrisopher Walken.

I mean he speaks like the G-Man and put him in a suit he even looks like the G-Man.

I wouldn't want to see anyone famous play these parts, just as long as they're convincing.

One could argue that HL is already a movie.

Walken is a good suggestion.

There's some Charlie Sheen Pic somplace where he looks exactly like Gordon.

This budget better be high, with all the suggested picks so far :)

(Fun to speculate, but I still think it's a bad thing.)

I can sum up my opinion of any Half-Life or Half-Life 2 movie in a single word:

Ugh.

Alright so it's really a sound of disgust simulated through written word. But honesty can you tell me with a straight face you would rather see a movie than play the game ?

If they did it right it could be a very good sci fi film.

Never thought Valve would agree to one, perhaps they agreed to a good movie... If we are lucky.

Barney - Gordon and Alyx aside, this is gonna be the most important character to get the right actor for... Personally, I'd want to see Matt Damon and Ewan McGreggor screen test.
I was thinking more like Tom Sizemore.
Gordon Freeman - Edward Norton.
Excelent Pic and one of my Favorite Actors.
Eli Vance... Morgan Freeman.
Morgans Parts are generaly to Mentor ish and type cast. But I don't know who I'd pick for him.
Dr. Kleiner - Tom Hanks. No explanation needed.
I was thinking Christopher Lloyd in his Back to the future get up(Dr. Emmit Brown)
Alyx Vance - I would say Halle Berry
Dr. Breen - Helmut Bakaitis
Agreed
The G-Man - William B. Davis
Definatly but wouldnt want people to get confused with his X-files Character since they are very much alike.

If they do this film this is gonna be a slaughter, what the point in another movie with teleporter and alien invasion ?
Do you remember: DOOM is coming and what is the story ? ... Pretty similar IMO...

I read somewhere that Valve had signed movie rights to Half-Life over to a studio... Can anyone confirm that?
