Half Life on my new comp

Hey everyone

How will Half Life 2 and Ep1 and Lost Coast work on this comp -- im not that good with computers


Intel Dual Core 2 Duo 1.8ghz
3gb sdram
Windows Vista Home Premium
nVidia 8600m 256mb

Vista still has some weird bugs with drivers, etcetera. Not sure if Valve has released a Vista patch.

Most will work with some form of compatibility software.

From what I've heard, most games will work on Vista now if they worked on XP before so in theory you should have no trouble with any game on Steam.

I played Half Life 1 (Source edition) on Windows XP. A friend of mine is playing it on Vista without problems.

I have a faint memory of me playing the original GoldSRC Half Life on a laptop with a really old DirectX compliant video card (DX6 or less) on Windows XP. Running slow... but running.

They will to my knowlege. Valve release something called the Half-life anthology which is the first game and it's expansion in one box. On Amazon they're around $10 without shipping. I don't know what they're like, I haven't picked them up yet.

Hey man, look at the system in my sig, basically the same

I pull off 100FPS+ in HL2 on MAX EVERYTHING, including AA and AF

in Ep 1 and lost coast, I get around 60+ on MAX EVERYTHING, HDR, the works

Its called Platinum edition over here.
Exactly the same stuff inside. Only Deathmatch and day of defeat came out together later. Probably because Platinum Collection is the older verion, and then valve upgraded the packs and added the other two. <3 platinum collection box.

Anthology contains only HL, OP4, BS and TFC. Trust me, I bought it.

Omg, HL2 is running fine with 50+ FPS on a single-core processor with an MX440 GPU (DX8). With your powerfull machine you should be able to enjoy the game on max quality.

To headcrab - I would be surprised if they didn't work, maybe have to turn on Compatibility Mode, at worst. Haven't tried it tbh.

How was that name not already taken? Maybe it's been deleted once or more, don't remember.
