Hello all,

I don't know if this has been done before but these short stories will show my ideas of the thoughts of certain characters at key moments in the Half-Life Universe. (Includes moments from HL, OpFor, Blue-Shift, Decay, HL 2.)

Hope you enjoy, look forward to reading your posts and opinions.

Half-Life : Perspective
Chapter One "Rise and shine"

The black is so empty and yet so close to me, open your eyes. Come on, open them.

My eyes are already open but its too dark to see anything. Screw them shut, blink, blink harder. I open my eyes again, and there is no change. Wait a second, what's my name? Gordon, Gordon Freeman. Relief, I can remember that at least.

Where am I? Don't forget to breathe Gordon. I can hear myself breathing, inhale exhale, inhale exhale. It's getting painful, my chest is cramping up, getting tighter. Have to cough, gotta clear my airways. Come on Gordon, breathe, breathe! Choke, cough....

Suddenly it stops, release, a flash of green light, that face, I know that face, I remember him from before it went black. He's opening his mouth to speak.

"Rise and shine, Mr. Freeman, rise and shine."

There's nothing wrong with it but it's really really short dude. I'd write some more before posting the next part.

I believe that is some sort of intro, I am sure the chapters will get bigger ;)

Yeah I know, but to judge a piece of text based on an intro no more than ten or so rows is kinda... pointless. In my opinion that is.

Chapter 2 : Ground Zero Pt.1
"Email problems"

The Anomolous Materials section of Black Mesa Research Facility is one of the best equipped. Not as revered and grossely overfunded as the Lambda Complex but still one of the best eqipped research facilities in the world. This is the view the American Government has of their above secret facility. The people who work at Black Mesa do not share this opinion. They are all too aware that many of the experiments they perform are done so using only the bare essentials, and when those are not available they simply try to push the creaking machinery they do have to its limits.

Take the security guard on the front desk of the Anomolous Materials section. At the moment he is trying to do the simple task of managing the sections emails. Now it's not a vital job, it will not win any nobel awards but it is part of his duties and he is getting more and more frustrated. His login has failed 6 times, he has managed to access the emails once, but was only able to jot down a few vital messages before the system crashed.

Tap tap tap, enter password, tap tap tap. Failed again? Tap tap tap, enter password, tap tap tap. Failed. This is getting to me, relax, breathe, remember to breathe. Tap tap tap, enter password, tap tap tap. Access granted. Right then we're on our way. Work quickly, few for Dr.Kleiner, a couple for Dr.Roberts, a whole bunch for Dr.Freeman. CRASH! Dammit. This is not good. It didn't even go to blue screen, every monitor is down, black and oh, seems everything is back up again.

"Excuse me, I'm looking for the supervisor."

"Sure thing, can I see some ID?"

"Of course." He waves a card at me, and walks to the offices. Who the hell was that guy, he looked a bit pale! Liked his suit though.

The security guard continues to try and sort out the email issue but to no avail. After three attempts at rebooting the machine he considers whether hurling abuse and threatening it with torture will make it work. He decides against it.

"Are my messages through yet?" One of the scientists walks over, the security guard looks at his badge.

"Sorry Dr.Shaw, we are having major problems this morning."

"Let me see." The scientist leans on the security guards chair and peers over his shoulder. The securtiy guard shuffles uncomfortably, if there is one thing he hates it's people mooching around over his shoulder. After ten minutes he is still there, he hasn't said a word, just keeps breathing loudly in his ear.

The heavy security doors slide open and a scientist walks in. The security guard flicks his eyes quickly to the name tag on the new arrivals white coat. Oh it's Gordon, finally, that guy is always late, maybe he's just a deep sleeper. The security guard barely looks up from the computer but quickly flashes a smile in Gordons direction.

"Hey, Mr. Freeman, I had a bunch of messages for you, but we had a system crash about twenty minutes ago and I'm still trying to find my files. Just one of those days I guess."
