Half-Life Stuck On Hard?

Is Half-Life 2 easier than Half-Life or something? Because a shotgun shot to the head in Half-Life 2 kills Combine. In Half-Life, it takes nearly 5 or 6 shotgun shots to the head for the marines! The setting is on easy. When I switch it to hard, it's just as hard as it was when it was on easy. Is there a problem with my game or is it just like this?

Half Life is indeed harder than Half Life 2. The additional health was to make up for the lacking AI back then. Overall the entire game is harder than Half Life 2.

In Half-Life, it takes nearly 5 or 6 shotgun shots to the head for the marines!

On Half-Life hard it takes 2 shots of the shotgun to the head to kill a marine. Yes, they're tough, but certainly not impossible.
