Has anybody figured out who stole the code for HL2? If you did please call some one important. Because whoever stole it deserves to die a horrible incredibly painfull death that takes a very long time.:flame:

It was me, I did it with my trusty C64 without a modem.

It was a complex operation conducted by me, Faravid and Supertrooper. Supertrooper crept into the Valve offices using his 'ways to see the Hl2 game before realeasation' methods to great effect. There, he infiltrated the security room, turning of the firewall and cutting the power. We only had one minute before the staff finished their search for strippers, so me and Faravid went to work, pooling the resources of his C64 and my crappy computer. In 45 seconds we were in and out with the code. Now it was time for Supertrooper to get the hell out of there, but since he never made it back we can only assume he was captured and is now being interegated by Gabe and co. Never fear, however; a rescue mission is being organised as we speak.

It sure did take a pile of floppies and cassettes to copy it, but it was worth it!

Geez, a smarter idea would have been to put it all onto punch cards. Would have saved ya a heap of time. None of this new fangled floppy stuff. Btw, wats a floppy?

Floppies rule, cops raid in and all you have to do is put the floppies near a powerful magnet and they're all ruined, same goes with cassettes.

i gotta get my hands on some of these, "floppies"

are they bendy?

Yes they bend and they're large.

the whole code size was 3MB

naaah, i don't think the hacker needed more than two floppy disks, cause that's how much code was ready at the time....

i bet the hacker was on 28.8k and it took like, 3 weeks to download, and VALVe were like, "How do we stop this guy downloading our shit?". The Gabe steps in, "Well this sucks."

You'll never know just how close to the truth you are, Minda. Muhahahahaa.

Read through the forum rules, let us delete this god awful supertrooper account, PM me when you're happy with that and I might get someone to consider it.

since when is supertrooper = yatta, i must have been gone longer then i thought. i just thought he was super friendly and from some non english country. musta missed that one by a mile, and why did yatta get banned?

Yeah, what exactly is so illegal about a guy acting foreign for everyone else's entertainment?

[/QUOTES]

That statement is funny on so many levels...

I think you'll find numerous comedians do it for a living.
You're right of course. He's doing a fair bit more than that, and I believe it's also against forum rules...

*steps and and yells "I'm sparticus!" *

considering everybody here seems to think they did it themselves hehe. But i wonder if they ever caught the guy. Probably not or it'd be smeared all over the forums.

am i the only one that knows the truth here?

it was colonol mustard with the candle stick in the billiard room

all i have to say that supertroppers site is very disturbing.

Erm, i f you guys didn't read anything about it, apparently the person that stole it left their alias on it. It was anon.
But maybe that could stand for anonymous or something.
So then.
Maybe the hacker did an anonymous login to steal all of the stuff?
Bet you never thought about it that way.

So if that was true, maybe valve could of done an ip trace at the time gabe noticed is computer was stuffing up.

Well, hopefully everyone at valve learnt not to have the game dev machines hooked up to the net unless they are behind a very restrictive firewall and have a few more things to prevent hackers from getting in.

Atleast it wasn't stolen the same way quake 3 was :p

You are both either incredably bored or mental. I haven't decided which yet! :p Entertaining though!

they connected with

username: username
password: password

valve thought it was brilliant and nobody would be able to figure it out. :D

This is turning into a bash Valve and laugh at their misfortune thread, not to mention most of the posts are off-topic and nothing more than chitchat, so guess what.
