Half-life 2 in May Official Xbox Magazine

"The May issue Official Xbox Magazine has the world exclusive unveiling of Half-Life 2 for xbox with a seven page spread. They also promise video of the game in motion on the june issue.

Looks pretty good, seems to be a faithful port, just lower resolution naturally.

P.S. The disc has playable versions of Psychonauts, Doom 3, Pariah, Darkwatch, and a mystery demo"

I'll definately be playing hl2 when it comes to the xbox, hopefully they'll add co-op ...oh that would be sweet

Cool thanks .but i thought it was comming for xbox 2. I say if your going to play hl2 play it with a dream machine to get nice visuals. I couldnt play hl2 with a controller anyways. lol

I played hl2 the day it was released ..no harm in playing it again on another platform

But if i do play it on the xbox my eyes would bleed ;( because of the jaggies.

does that usually happen when you play games on the xbox? you should probably see someone about that :E

My mate has bought Bloodrayne on three platforms - XBox, PS2 and Game Cube

He is a fewl

maybe he actually liked the game? I dont see a problem with getting games on multiple platforms ..there's some differences. That said I'll probably RENT hl2 when it comes out ...no use in buying it twice ....but to a completist/collector purchasing the xbox version would make sense ...personally I wouldnt shell out money for a special edition of ANY game ..but that doesnt mean they shouldnt make one for the people who would spend the extra money ...they obviously think they'll make money so I dont see the harm in an xbox version ...like I said, I hope they have co-op cuz I'd love to play through the game with a non-pc-having friend of mine

good news to the people whiout PC able to run HL2

like me :(

I'm excited for it.

Hopefully they do as good a job as Vicarious Visions did with Doom 3 for the XBox....it's very well-done. It's good to know. If Doom 3 can be done this good on the XBox, certainly HL2 can be as well. I'll be purchasing it.

Also, a collectors edition with HL1: Source on it would be sweet. I see something like that happening since HL1 was never out on the XBox.

CptStern: Is the issue out yet??

Oh boy! Now I get to be disapointed by a mediocre game all over again! At least this time around it won't stutter like a retard.

lol, there arnt half some sarcastic turds around on forums these days.

I dont see the point of getting it on xbox, unless you cant afford a decent pc. Its not going to look as good, have less content, no downloadable mods, and you have to play with a controller. Its like buying a brand new car from one company, then when another company releases the same car with a bad paint job, and less options. Buying the second when you have the first wouldnt make much sense.

XBox Live does allow downloadable content. It's up to the developer/publisher. Mods are possible.

The xbox hd isnt that large is it? Not to mention alot of people use alot of it with saves. They wouldnt do that.

I doubt it, so much in fact that Id be willing to bet alot of money they wont. And I mean a serious bet.

why not just leave it till xbox2's release, or are they in that much of a rush to get more bling into their bank...?

I have a fair few saves for my Xbox (about 30+, as well as a few CDs, downloaded content for Splinter Cell1+2 and a few other games, game patches and stuff) and it still reads "10,000+ blocks available". Clearly, there's plenty of room to go around for a few mods.

Oh well it may be possible, but I would still bet my savings it doesnt happen.

a more accurate analogy would be:

premium car maker makes budget car for everyone that cant afford their premium cars

Yea but the point being. Someone already owning the premium car, then buying the budget car, doesnt make much sense.

sure it does ...completists and die-hard fans of the game. How many xbox fan-boys didnt get HL2 cuz their computer wasnt powerful enough? now they dont have to spend $1500 for a new computer just to play the game ...4 million people bought halo 2 ...potential sales on HL2 on xbox (if good and marketed right) could be more than the PC version. Personally I wouldnt buy the xbox version ..unless there was something new (co-op, new lvls etc)

The graphics just aren't going to do the game justice on Xbox. Shoulda waited for Xbox 2.

The hard drive is 10 gigs. Not huge, but large enough to accomodate.

but most xbox users wouldnt know the difference

True. I sorta feel cheated by Valve. I mean, Xbox user's got Halo 2, why should they have one of the best games PC has? Console people are getting spoiled with all these good games, while PC users have to wait and wait for any good ones.

It's not a completely usable 10 gigs though. The HD is partitioned into like 4 drives. I modded my xbox and I have like 4.8gb free on my main partition of the HD. I only have 2 cd's on there and savegames which hardly take up any space.

So buy a console or two and you won't feel as cheated. ;)

You shouldn't feel cheated anyway. XBox-only users had to wait an extra year for both Doom 3 and HL2. Those people should feel privaleged that they have a console capable of producing some incarnation of either.

Imagine how fans of those games feel who only have a PS2 or GC, but no XBox. They get neither.

Lol, I own the Xbox. I'm just saying, PC gamer's should be able to call HL2 all theirs.

halo 2 not coming to the pc really makes no sense. They could get alot of extra revenue, and its not going to affect their xbox console sales that much. Just about all the people want/wanted an xbox have one, halo 2 isnt going to change that especiall ynow with xbox 2 coming out soon.

Not to mention, it could be so much better on the pc. Run better/smoother, look better, have better controls, mods, better mp.

scans of the article are up on the web, including screenshots ...wow doesnt look all that bad ...but the scans are a bit bad so it's hard to make out details

Hl2, is going to have hell long load times on the Xbrick :P
Actually it might not. From everything i've heard about HL2, its long load times are due to the way it packs the sound cache's for the levels and because of how Steam reads them (at least i think, i mean the HL2 folder is constructed differantly compared to regular games due to Steam). Now since there will be no need for Steam on an Xbox, the game might actually load fast.

Oh, and an Xbox version of HL2 would be optimized for the Xbox. And since you cant change your specs of an Xbox like a PC, it'll be WAY easier to optimize the game for it. At least i think so.

I think that last part is the mostly correct. The first part i felt like i was talking out of my ass so i was probably wrong to some degree, or maybe even completely but hey, i tried.

I don't know. It obvious that the console market is far more lucrative than the PC market for gaming. Halo for the PC may have been a better looking game with more options, but there's no way it sold as much as it did on the XBOX. Although I find Halo to be a different situation as the XBox version had no online MP. But for Halo2...it makes little sense to me why a developer would want to put that much more money into the game to sell a few more copies for those few PC only people floating around out there. The XBox Live content is fantastic...there's little room for growth by porting that game.
