Half Lifes's crashing... Need help

My problem seems to be a little bit different then a couple of people's on here.

I can start up Half Life 2 easy... But when I click on new game or load it goes to the loading and it either crash at loading or crash about 10 seconds in the game and this comes up " Connection to Steam lost.
Could not acquire neccessary games files. "

My comp is top of the line... So could it be drivers or...

Do you have a firewall? An Anti-Virus app running?
If yes, try it after shutting off both of them. If it works then, you can go and try to configure them to accept the steam connection without acting up.
