Hello.
I got the steam version of half life 2 episode 2 runing on Vista. All is well, however, from the video options i cant select DirectX 10 from the drop down menu, it is fixed at directX 9. i have directX10 installed and other games detected it. is there a way to make directX 10 available in the advanced video options?

in the /bin directory there's a file shaderapidx9.dll and stdshader_dx9.dll. is there a dx10 version of these files?

From what I know Source 2007 doesn't use DX10 the slightest, so even if you could select it your games wouldn't look better.

It's a biproduct of the consoles using DX9.

According to the site, however, the games will utilise the advanced technology featured on DirectX 10 graphics cards "even" if you're running them on Windows XP - which suggests to us that DirectX 10 features won't appear in Episode Two and TF2.

That's what the site says.

No source does not support Dx10 Valve thought it was pointless because not many people have Dx10 cards and Vista. What that link is saying is they are going to use some of the advanced technology featured on DirectX 10 graphics cards on Directx 9 Cards and XP.

In short, in EP:2, DirX 10 cards run faster than DirX 9 cards. Yet, DirX 10 new artistic features are not being supported.
