I am fairly new to these forums and I think they are great.

I was wondering how/when/where they started. It seems like they are based in the UK since alot of users are from that area and the currency is in pounds.

Munro bought the domain and started the site in May of last year, to coincide with the release of the first few bits of Half-Life 2 news and screenshots... we slowly grew and attracted alot of users with the 'Information from Valve' thread, and ever since we've just been growing and growing, after numerous hosting problems (and staff fights )

The majority of the staff is British, but I think the limelight server is in the U.S. - not 100% positive, but since Valve's using it as well, I'd imagine it is.

Valve (Half-Life/2 developers) offered us space on the server that they use their websites for, it's a server provided by a company called limelight.

In addition, Limelight Networks provide all of Valve's Steam Content servers.

Our servers are probably sitting in between the servers that run http://www.half-life2.com and http://www.steampowered.com. Because the hardware that powers those websites is run by Limelight Networks too.
