Halo Custom Edition Free

So what is Halo Custom Edition (HaloCE) you ask? Simply put, it is a new version of HaloPC that is free for all HaloPC owners. This unsupported version of HaloPC is a stand alone Gearbox Software release and is not supported by Microsoft.

So what is the purpose of HaloCE? HaloCE was created as a way for Gearbox to introduce a bunch of new features to HaloPC. The most important of which is the ability to play user created content.

Along with HaloCE we will also be releasing a set of tools, tutorials and source art which we call the Halo Editing Kit (HEK). This is a powerful package which will allow users to create their own custom content for HaloCE.

When released it is our hope that this new version of the game will become the first choice for all HaloPC players.

But generally the Halo engine is quite heavy. It will run fine if you own like a best PC in the market. With my Axp1800+ and Radeon 9600Pro I'm lucky if the frame rate stays at 30.

I got a 9800SE and an AMD 2600+, fairly average, and it runs about 30+ FPS constant

All I can say is took em long enough

I play Halo PC multi more than probably any other game (it's taken TFC's place in that regard) so having mods finally start to come out is excellent news. It would have been nice if they could have done it sooner, it's hard enough playing all the FPS I have now, we probably won't be seeing the real slick, well-done Halo mods until Doom3 and HL2 hit.
