i have 512 megs of ram
128 meg radeon 9k
60 gigs free
p4 2.53 ghz

it runs so smoothly and then, twice now, it just CRASHES MY COMPUTER without warning. maybe i am running out of RAM? someone help me, i just bought this game and i want to play.

I have the same exact problem in Halo that I have in BF1942... every 3 seconds the game skips for a little less than half a second and then goes back to running smooth.

... and it has nothing to do with the resolution or detail settings.

i have EVERYTHING set as low as possible and i cant get very far, is there some type of virus that keeps your RAM from being purged? other than that i have no idea, because with the really low setting i can get about 6 minutes into the game, with the high setting about 2. god damn it i really want to play this. if anyone knows anything please help me, this is bullshit.

i checked for viruses with norton, it found nothing, wtf is happening?

lol... you have on lowest settings?

I have a
1700xp Athlon
512mb Sdram
Geforce 2 MX 400

and i run the game in 800x600 with medium setting with about 35-40 FPS

Iwe heard about this problem in many games, And pne of the most common things are Bad cooling. !

i sure hope it isnt my cooling, but it may be. ill have to try running it with the case fully open or something to see, this ****ing sucks.

are you sure thats the problem? i have never run into this before.

My problem only happens in DirectX games... and it really pisses me off because right when I go to aim it skips and I pass over the target.

One time in the small corridors in Halo it skipped as I was turning a corner... and I turned too far (all the way around), but didn't realize it.
So, I accidentally retraced my steps until I reached the entrance and realized what had happened.

It can be quite annoying at some times.

i fixed the problem, it was either airflow or i needed to update my drivers, i did both and now it works.

Yeah, I cleared out all the drivers one at a time and updated them to the latest version... and it was the sound blaster live! drivers (even though I am positive that they are the same version) that were causing the problem.

and my problem is back too, now it just restarts after about half an hour of play, i turned off XPs auto-restart "feature" (right click my computer, go to properties, click advanced, click settings under startup and recovery, under system failure make sure auto-restart is not checked) now instead of it just restarting, i get an actual error (in a BSOD) it says soemthing about "memory dump complete" then it mentions "ATI3d2ag.dll" so i figure its a problem with my video card drivers, i would update them but i am using the newest version! can anyone help me out? thanks.

Helo runs extremly bad on my system :(
Bad frame rates and I can absolutly not use AA because the fps drops i get are massive...

I run halo perfectly fine - smooth as anything at 800x600 on a geforce4 ti4200. Maybe it's a certain effect in the game that crashes it? Try playing and running about in the same room for an hour. It may be an obscure method of bumpmapping or vertex shading that your card doesn't like and appears sporadically in the game.

nah, ur all wrong, halo is just a bad game to begin with

i returned it and got BF1942, much better game anyway PLUS it actually runs on my ****ing computer.

Bravo. BF1942!
Now just load up those mods and play whatever you want.
Suggest Desert Combat.
