I've fallen back into electronica/techno quite a bit, but my collection is rather limited. A few albums by Aphex Twin, Daft Punk, and Derelic7 and uh... That's about it.

Harij, pls don't kill me, but I love your (derelic7s) stuff. I just don't know where to look for more of it (as in, other artists that sound similar).

The daft punk is nice, but I find a bit too soft for my tastes, except for Homework. I love Homework, with a passion. Sorry fellows, but I love accessible music. Go ahead, kill me for it. Again, i'm not too sure where to look for stuff sounding similar.

Halp me! I have no idea where to start with exploring the genre, it's just way too vast. Hardstyles, Darkwave, Trance, Psytrance, Goa, breakbeat, drum and bass, I have no idea where to start. HALP!

^This.

Thanks! Time to start digging, think i'll start with Tiesto :)

Oh, and i've never tried meth. The dankest depths of the hole that I visited were Morphine and Ritalin. Only way you could get me to touch the stuff is if it were free and right in front of me :p

Welcome :D You shant be dissapointed with Tiesto mate, almost certainly guaranteed to please!

Also regarding substances, expect a large quantity to come your way soon...
A LARGE QUANTITY OF HUGS, THAT IS! :E

How could I not respond? I'm very flattered.
My favourite tool for finding new music and inspiration is online radiostations.
Winamp has a vast collection of stations you can connect to in any genre you can imagine, just download winamp and check out Shoutcast Radio and hit search.
But there's a little gem called Screamer Radio: http://www.screamer-radio.com/

This one has a decent assortment of stations to connect to, and it can play any URL if you happen to run into a station online. But here's the best bit; it can record your music and save the files as separate mp3's.

Now, I know that there's a few like streamripper for winamp, but winamp's having some trouble with antivirusprograms lately (from my experience) while this one works perfectly.

Throw on a station with the music you're looking for, hit record, go to sleep or work or whatever and when you're back, you're gonna have a few hours worth of quality music.

I'd recommend the stations on www.soma.fm , particularly Groove Salad.

Also, check out forums and netlabels, there's always buzz around talent and good music.

www.planet-mu.com
www.watmm.com
www.ninjatune.net

Also, electronic genres have even more variations than trance and hardfloor variations, which by the way don't seem to be entirely your cup of tea. try ambient dub, idm (aphex twin, most of my music), liquid funk, chillout, that sort of stuff.

I love Homework, with a passion. Sorry fellows, but I love accessible music. Go ahead, kill me for it.

Daft punk are ****ing geniuses, there's no shame in enjoying them :)

Well, I signed up at Last.FM, but unless there's a way to scrobble the music I listen to on my ipod, I doubt it'll do much good. I barely ever listen to music on my PC these days, as lately i've spent very little time infront of it. Hell, half the music on my ipod isn't even on my comp.

Really digging the Tiesto though. It's really nice, and I love the energy. 4 on the floor gets irritating after 2 or 3 songs though.

Listening to some Mu-Ziq right now, and it's tickling my pickle pretty nicely. I want to dive into IDM more, but the genre seems just way too broad to really figure out what of it I like. Any artists you guys could recommend?

Right now i'm trying to find more of that, and some Psytrance.

^I don't use iTunes, but in the early days of last.fm loads of people voiced exactly the same concern that you have, and iirc there is a mechanism now in place to tally the tracks that you have listened to while out and about. Could be wrong about this, and you may have to dig through FAQs, but maybe someone here can clarify. In the meantime, you may also find Last.fm useful for just typing in band names and finding similar artists.
