Hammer not loading... missing dll?

I got this error when I opened Hammer:

Can't load C:/...whateverwhatever/sourcesdk/bin/filesystem_steam.dll

Thats never happened before. Then it says "No game configurations are available..." and that I have to manually configure them.

So then the hammer configuration window pops up and I have to manually set it up, though it appears to already be set for Half-Life 2: Deathmatch, which is what I want.

But it doesnt work.

Any ideas?

Just last week I got the same thing..I logged into one of my steam accounts(I have 2), but it wasnt the same account that I used to download sourcesdk/hammer..so I logged out, and into my other, and there was no problems

Ok, yeah. I just restarted steam and it worked.

Man, the idea of needing steam to use a map editor is ridiculous. It stops my brother from helping me with my map on another computer at the same time (which he wanted to do),... making geometry for me that can be pasted into the map.

Steam's a good idea for stopping piracy (stopped some 20,000 people), and getting patches, but that should be the *END* of it's uses.

I am getting the same error now, out of nowhere restarted steam and nothing. Reinstalled hammer and same problem.

to find a missing dll file try www.dll-files.com - it's been a while since i visited but i assume they're stil up and running

delete the folder (or rename. whatever.) sourcesdk/bin/ then quit and restart steam, then run hammer. I had the same issue with hl2, same error, and deleting the bin folder for hl2 fixed the problem.
