Well, I've run into a little problem. About a week ago, I was reunited with the grand ol 'net, and discovered that Hammer doesn't seem to like me anymore. Nearly every time I try to compile a map, no files are generated, and I end up with an error that looks like this:
On the same note, it doesn't want to overwrite the old BSPs either, though that isue is more of an annoyance than anything. Oddly enough, it doesn't matter if I'm using one of my own maps (which are rather messy I admit), other player-made ones, or even the included SDK demos, they all give the same error. On some occasions I found that if I kill the SDK, Hammer and Steam itself, then reopen them, it will sometimes work properly, but usually not.
Now, I'm not a complete n00b in these matters, and I have done the necessary forum search, but I wasn't able to find any distinctive answers to this issue, although it seems quite common.
Any ideas or suggestions?
Here's my output, in case that helps (most recent compile)
SteamStartup() failed: SteamStartup(0xf,0x0012EF64) failed with error 1: The registry is in use by another process, timeout expired
