Who among the hl2n.netters are gonna sit in front of the big screen and watch Hannibal Rising?

I'm not sure if I will see it as Hopkins was the main reason why I liked the first two so much. I'll wait for the reviews, I guess.

I certainly am. This is one of my 3 most anticipated films of this year:

Hanibal Rising
The Number 23
300
Pirate's 3

Ok so thats 4...

You know, you could have edited your post initially, and made yourself sound a lot smarter :P

I read a summary from a preview of the movie on IMDB. And unless they removed the bit where "A young Dr Lecter learns the way of the samurai from a french/japanese maid", the movie couldn't be any less interesting to me. I might read the book cause Thomas Harris can write a good book even if his plot sucks (Like he did in Hannibal).

Oh, and Hopkins won't be in it. At all.

The dude who plays Hannibal Lecter will receive a lot of bashing no matter how good or bad he is in the movie. Internet law

"The guy's about as intimidating as a mildly irritated kitten, and that certainly doesn't up the creep factor."

"Lecter is all relish, which is fine for a side dish but unsatisfying in a main."

"The film naturally has its share of gruesome moments, but it's also surprisingly dull and uninvolving."

"Errors in logic will delight the attentive."

"For all of the story's lack of suspense and terror, it is Gaspard Ulliel who makes the movie dramatic. His is an audacious performance that bewitches the viewer into relishing something that we should not. But there is nothing to be frightened of here."

"What Hannibal Rising is, mostly, is a hoot. Gong Li cautions the nightmare-plagued Hannibal that 'Memory is a knife -- it can hurt you.' And let's not forget the classic, 'They ate my sister.'"

"Prequel alternates between being awfully silly and awfully boring before settling on just plain awful."

"What this nasty, brutish movie left me feeling was ashamed to be American. First of all: As a folk archetype, a supervillain for our times, this is the best we can come up with? A vaguely Eurotrash schoolboy who eats people's cheeks?"

Doesn't sound like I'll be missing anything.

This looks so stupid and lame...
