Yes have a Happy Thanksgiving though it is not the 27th yet.
Don't do drugs. :farmer:

Don't burn your house down if you're trying to deep fry a turkey for the first time.

you know there are all these legalise cannibis threads, well guess what....

CANNIBIS GIVES YOU CANCER!!!

yeah what's it all about anyway? can't fathom it myself. you guys have 3 holidays a year. independence day, thanksgiving and christmas. there must be SOME point to all this holidaying madness.

thanksgiving is bullshit (no offence)
so is independanse day

and so is christmas (jesus wasn't born on christmas!!! fact. although personally i feel...)

but hey! anything for the commercial giants. And any excuse for a holyday.

Heheh i dont really celebrate any of them but hey i dont really even care cause its a holiday and i get off work that day so cant complain!

Thanks giving is one festival that originated __out of man's sense of gratitude. Shared joy of good fortune, of plenty in terms of basic commodity like food, an overwhelming feeling of thankfulness for nature's bounty and a recognition ____________and acknowledgement of the power_of providence over man are the_feelings that lie behind the celebrations . It is a day set apart to thank the almighty for the bounties received during the year,_usually symbolised by various crops. On thanksgiving, people celebrate the_results of long period of toil. This day is celebrated in the United States of America, on_the_4th_Thursday_of_the_month_of_November.

Does that help?

so... only men can celebrate it... (SEXIST)

come on girls were leaving.:cheese:

I think Thanksgiving is pretty lame...as if we Americans weren't fat enough..we have a holiday where it's good to be a total glutton and eat everything in site...

4th of July has more significance than Thanksgiving in my book. It has much more historical significance than many other holidays..

I used to be totally indifferent to Thanksgiving till I got to college. Now it's my favorite holiday cause I actually get to eat a real home cooked meal that didn't come out of a cardboard box or a can.

but that's no longer the case anymore. you guys have macdonalds for your food needs. does anyone even care if there's crops coming in through the year? i get the significance of it, but much like christmas, it's kind of lost it's point i guess. and easter as well. i have a bone to pick with easter. it's about the ressurection of jesus and stuff right? so where the F.UCK did chocolate bunnies come from? serisouly i can't see the connection here.

anyway have fun with your families etc. suppose it's good for bringing family together.

Not where im from. I grew up on a farm so I can be thankful of the crops :)

dudes, there's a whole webternet out there with tons of info about the origins of holidays and their traditions.

i can tell you that the bunnies and eggs of easter are old fertility symbols. all of the "pagan" influence in christian holidays is pretty interestiing to learn about. google that shit, fools!

hey man i wasn't interested in learning why they have bunnies and shit..i just wanted to make fun.

We do? First I have heard about it

God bless the lack of puritans I guess

Happy Thanksgiving everybody!!!

Even if you're not living in the U.S., or if you are in the U.S. but don't care about the tradition/history behind it, it's still a good reminder to be thankful for everything you've got. Seriously, it's nice to take a day to appreciate the world. So take the good, and the bad, and be glad for all of it. :)

(and, don't drink too much and drive safely. i hope all of you have a nice thanksgiving.)

For Canadians--Thangsgiving was a long time ago.
November is the mother for Rememberance day.
What's a puritan?

Protestant sect that wanted to "purify" the Church of England (I think) of Catholic influences. They were persecuted so first they went to Holland, which didn't work out so great, so then they went over to America and made their own super-fun community.

oh wow i just imagined an animal that was part turkey, part chicken, and part duck. hmm, i've never heard of turducken before. sounds pretty good except i probably can't distinguish the taste of turkey from chicken. and i have something against stuffing. but other than that, it sounds pretty good.

I love Thanksgiving because it's the only day of the year where you can eat turkey. I don't mean a turkey sandwich or something, real oven-cooked turkey.

Try cooking turkey on any other day and it will taste like sh*t and you will just look ridiculous.

4th of July is the best holiday, closely followed by Halloween.
