Hard drive failure

Hey I purchased Half-life 2 along with a bunch of other source games and my hard drive just crapped out.

What am I supposed to do if I downloaded them through steam? I do not have a back up disc or game DVD...

It cost me $60 american! GAH!!

Exactly what do you mean when you say "my harddrive just crapped out"? The details which you have provided are a bit sketchy. If you could elaborate a little more it would be easier to help you. I am not saying I know how to fix your problem, but it may be easier for other people to if you make things more clear.

Im not sure exactly what happened, but my dad tried updating some drivers for our video card and somehow ended up corrupting the windows installation. Our computer is in the shop right now and apparently there was an password on the admin account that the store we bought it from put on but disabled. None of us know it so the guy at the shop is trying to recover as much as he can.

About the activation code, all I have is a transaction confirmation code in an email I was sent when I first purchased the games. I'm sure they could trace the purchase to my credit card in their records.

When you have the computer back, or you have another computer you want to install HL2 on, do the following:

Go to www.steampowered.com
Click "Download steam"
Install
Open steam and log in with the username/password that you used when you bought HL2
Open the "My Games" window
Right click on the greyed out "Half life 2" text
Click "Install"
Wait untill it is downloaded
Play.
