Hard drive is dying

I think my hard drive is on its last breath. Its clicking like crazy when I launch a game/app.

Ive defraged and cleaned it but still no change. It is an old model Maxtor Diamond Max 10 using a SATA connection. I want to get a really fast hard drive.... the Wester Digital Raptor drives seem like a good choice for fast access times. Anyone got ones of these?

Not worth it. Go read the reviews. They get unstable spinning at those speeds and it improves performance by a second? Expensive too.

Actually raptor drives are above quality for regular desktop drives. They are aimed at the entry level workstation/server market under the price range of SCSI drives (10,000 and 15,000 RPM drives).

But any of the new 500GB drives (WD,Seagate etc) would be great for desktop use. You won't see much difference between the new drives and Raptors for desktop apps, just workstation/server stuff.

I have the 500GB Caviar SE16 and it has been wonderful. Fast and quiet.
